Australian Thrasher’s GRAVE FORSAKEN have sent in the following update:
When they said break a leg, I didn’t think Matt would take it literally! But he did it seems. Just a few weeks out from his wedding, Matt has managed to do himself some damage playing indoor soccer. Never fear though, he’s OK. It does mean we’ll be taking a bit of time off while he recovers, but that’s not a bad thing. Our first half of the year was really busy.
It has been an awesome year so far. Releasing Fight To The Death was a highlight for me. As a fan of Christian metal, and Christian thrash in particular, it was really special to release something that can fit nicely into that genre. I was disagreed with the HM review of the album, however it is their right to say whatever they think is correct. Just because I don’t agree, it doesn’t mean I don’t still support the magazine. Hopefully they like our next album, whenever that comes around.
Easterfest was another highlight. Remember, I’m a fan of the Christian music. Being so isolated in Perth, we don’t really get any sense of how many people are aware of our band. It was awesome to go over east and play to those people. Those who know me know I’m a deep thinking sensitive soul. Playing a big event like Easterfest was soothing to my soul.
So I’m enjoying the little hiatus we are having. It’s giving me a chance to tie up some loose ends around the house and attend to a few other matters. Kristy and I have another baby in November, so I’m gearing up to be a dad again. Aaron is going well, it’s a real joy to watch him grow up. It’s also a joy to be a part of this band. Here’s to many more years of thrashing!
