Mike Sullivan of ExploreMusic conducted an interview with vocalist Tim Lambesis of San Diego, California metallers AS I LAY DYING at this year’s edition of the Heavy T.O. festival, which was held July 23-24, 2011 at Downsview Park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. You can now watch the chat below.

In a recent interview with the Australian metal webzine Disciples Of Metal, Lambesis was asked if AS I LAY DYING has begun writing material for the follow-up to last year’s “The Powerless Rise”. “Instead of waiting two or three years to do a new full-length album, we’re going to put out something later this year for our tenth anniversary,” he replied. “It will be a combination of new songs, cover songs, and a few remixes. We really wanted to do something to celebrate our tenth anniversary so we’re putting together ideas for that. We have three new songs ready to mix.”

Regarding whether there is anything he would change about “The Powerless Rise” a year after its release, Tim said, “I feel that we took all the time we needed to get things right. There’s always a few experiments that you think could sound better. Overall, looking at the actual performances we captured on the CD, I don’t think any of us could have gotten a better performance even if we had more time and that’s one thing that really makes us proud of the album.”

“The Powerless Rise” sold 38,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 10 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The band’s previous CD, “An Ocean Between Us”, opened with 39,500 units back in August 2007 to land at No. 8.

“The Powerless Rise” was released on May 11, 2010 via Metal Blade Records.
