I had extremely high expectations for Cowboys & Aliens, as I’ve been looking forward to seeing it since I first saw the previews for it around the end of 2010. With that said, I was grossly disappointed. The actors I feel did a great job with their parts, and the scenery and sets are right on. Some things for some reason just didn’t sit right with me. Maybe it was that the movie took itself so seriously, and the few jokes fell flat on their face. The unexplained plot points, the only thing we’re told is the aliens are there for gold. What do they use the gold for? The character of Elle is just strange, with no real background information ever given (I’d give more details on Elle, but I don’t want to give any spoilers).
In all honesty I’d love to recommend Cowboys & Aliens, but I can’t. It just wasn’t that good. For the last hour of the film I just wanted it to be over already.
