Premier Guitar‘s Jason Shadrick visited the the Zoom booth at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California during the 2011 NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, a massive music-products convention that took place January 13-16. In the video segment below, we get to see and learn more about Zoom‘s G3 guitar effects and G2.1DM Dave Mustaine (MEGADETH) signature multi-FX.
Mustaine and Zoom introduced the all-new G2.1DM Dave Mustaine signature edition guitar effects pedal at a press conference on January 15.
“This pedal is built for action,” declared Mustaine. “With my personal sound effects and a large expression pedal modeled after the accelerator of one of my favorite sports cars onboard, the G2.1DM leaves all contenders at the starting line.”
“It’s been a honor working closely with Dave on this new pedal,” said Mark Menghi, artist relations director. “Zoom has been fully-committed to capturing his thrash metal guitar sound in the G2.1DM. We are excited to be unleashing it on guitar players everywhere.”

no matter how much you pimp it out, it still sounds the same as the others – a regular G2.1u. Thin, trebly and lame.

I’m kinda win-or-lose on this one. Sure the aesthetics are great but there’s no actual change to it, electronics-wise. They just made Dave Mustaine make his own patches in the effects, saved it into the hard drive, and then put it out on the market. I’m pretty sure the original G2.1u’s electronics and Dave Mustaine’s have, if none, little difference.
