Petra is releasing anniversary editions of their albums, “This Means War” (25th Anniversary), and “More Power To Ya” (30th Anniversary). Both albums have been digitally remastered for the first time, making them must have editions for Petra fans, and will be released on July 3rd.
“This Means War”, originally released in 1987, includes 3 bonus live concert solos from Bob Hartman (guitar), John Lawry (keyboard) and Louie Weaver (drums). “This Means War” was the tenth studio release from the band. It garnered Petra their 4th nomination for a GRAMMY® Award for Best Gospel Performance.
“More Power To Ya”, Originally released in 1982, was the fifth studio release from the band. Billboard dubbed it a “Top Album Pick” and praised the band’s “surging music, tough lyrics and effective vocals.” Many Petra fans have long considered this to be their best release from the 80s.
Petra, who is known for being a pioneer of the Christian Rock genre, is releasing a new 10 track collection of their biggest hits from the 1980’s. This collection of music, not only defines a generation, but is a historical look at Christian rock music through the songs of the band who paved the way for many more Christian rock bands to follow.
While paving the way for Christian rock bands, Petra experienced the peak of its success. It was undoubtedly the world’s most popular Christian rock band, with each of its albums during that period selling hundreds of thousands of copies while the band sold out arenas and regularly placed songs at the top of Christian radio charts. No Christian rock band had sold more records, played before bigger crowds or enjoyed such pervasive radio airplay. Even now Petra is one of the most recognized names in the Christian rock scene.
