Promise Land started off as an acoustic rock duo, playing many of the local coffeehouses and churches. Little did they know at the time; God had bigger plans for Promise Land.

Some years later after changing the band’s music style and recruiting a bass player and drummer, it didn’t take long before God began opening the doors for Promise Land. Promise Land began to headline many events and youth group rallies, as well as being featured live on Pittsburgh’s Word FM. They were also selected to perform in many outdoor festivals such as Cornerstone Festival, Sanctuary International and asked to open for bands such as Bride, Petra, ApologetiX, Breaking the Silence, Rex Carrol and many more. One thing that remained very consistent and always impressed the venues was Promise Land‘s boldness for Christ and speaking God’s Word! –There is no compromise in this band!

In 2000, due to time constraints, both the bass player and the drummer parted ways with Promise Land leaving the band to seek replacements. Then enters longtime friend Gary Bova who in 2001 became Promise Land‘s bass player and later in 2003, Eric Bowser to fill the position of Drummer, both have remained in the Promise Land family to this day.

During the time of these changes, Promise Land began reinventing the band, both in ministry and music. This took the band to the next level creating a professional, exciting ministry and sound. That has become the Promise Land people know today.

Promise Land‘s first “EP” was recorded and released in late 2005. Now, while the ‘EP’ was meant to be a simple demo used for booking, they decided to release it to the public after much requests. The band was pleasantly surprised when it began receiving great reviews. The “EP” was selected as “Album of the Moment” for several weeks running on major Christian Metal/Rock websites, as well as remaining #11 on the “Best Rated Albums” out of hundreds in the largest online Christian Metal Music Vault. They were also selected as one of the TOP 10 in the 2006 Kingdom Bound International Talent Search. From the exposure, the band has gained a good national support while still continuing to build strong local following.
