The Synics Awakening is a brand new black metal band in the scene.  They are set to release their debut album, “The Dawn of Vengeance”, off of Sullen Records real soon.

One thing you’ll notice about this album is the great symphonics.  They bring a great feel and atmosphere to the entire album.  The riffing is great!  All the riffs are memorable and distinguishable. Mostly, you will hear your occasional tremolo picked black metal riffs, but every once in awhile you’ll hear a nice death metal like riff thrown in. The only problem with the riffing is that sometimes they can be repeated too much to were they become monotonous.  The drumming for the most part is spot on, but at some points it sounds a bit random and off-beat.  But for the most part, the drumming stays consistently on track.  The vocals can get boring after awhile; I wish they used some variety in the vocal style, instead of the same high pitched screeching style they use throughout.

You can definitely hear a great improvement over the demo tracks that are included at the end of the album.  The production on these demo tracks really needed some work, which was addressed in the newer songs.  The symphonics were also missing in these tracks, something that made the newer tracks stand out.

Though this is a very solid release, I don’t really hear anything new or groundbreaking.  Don’t get me wrong, this is a very well-done release, I feel like everything in it I can hear on another album.  With that being said, I hope this band experiments more in the future and creates some more unique and original music.  I see some serious potential in this project if that can be accomplished.  If you are a fan of Cradle of Filth, I suggest you pick this up!
