Due to a new upcoming 2011 studio album, metal band Tourniquet announced that they will begin recording this month. This will be the long awaited follow up to 2003′s Where Moth and Rust Destroy. Below you can read a new album update by Ted Kirkpatrick (drums).

New Album Update: I had a lengthy discussion with our producer Neil Kernon yesterday. As a highly in demand producer, he’s usually working on several projects at once. When one project hits a major snag, as one currently has by no fault of his own – the upcoming projects, including ours – get pushed back a bit. It’s a very common but often unavoidable scenario in the music industry.

So we are now planning May 19-23 to record drums. Guitars, vocals, gimmicks, etc. to follow. As someone said – Neil is a producer worth waiting for. Nothing else is holding us up – finances, tunes, etc. are all in place. Even the song titles…

The music is very thrash oriented, heavy new riffs, aggressive tempos, and lots of melody. The lyrics – I’m personally giving you a 100% guarantee of no watered-down lyrics.

Tourniquet raised the funds to record their new album via the website Kickstarter. Kickstarter allows for fans to pledge funds to a project, and the project is only funded if they reach a set goal by the end of the campaign. Tourniquet  managed to fund their project with fans pledging $28,475.
