The era of Bride is behind us. Singer of the legendary metal band Dale Thompson moved to New Zealand. Three years after the release of Bride’s last album, Incorruptible, Thompson, together with Alan Zaring, started a new band called The World Will Burn. Early 2016 their debut album was released.
The first listen is somewhat a little awkward. The comparison with Bride is quickly made, yet the sound of The World Will Burn totally different. Playing the opening track Absolute Power, you can’t deny the voice of Bride front-man Dale Thompson. The guitar work is reminiscent of Bride around The Jesus Experience period, when, for the first time, they started experimenting with grunge. The modern rock feel is actually heard throughout the whole album. But nevertheless the guitar sound is clearly from a different player. Alan Zaring has definitely managed to leave his mark on the album.
The 13-track debut album is ok, but that is also my problem with this album. There are too few tracks that stand out in my opinion, and therefore it is still somewhat disappointing. In my opinion, The best tracks on the album are Place In The Sun, The Dying Me and the quiet closer Innocent Dream.
