Forfeit Thee Untrue – Blood Soaked Splinter

FTUI received this album a couple of months ago to review. I first have to apologize to the band, Forfeit Thee Untrue, for the huge delay. Nevertheless over that period of time I have listened to the album many times. For me this album has its Low and High points. The High points are that the majority of the songs are heavy, cranking songs. Anymore, I am listening to my music while working out and I love listening to music that motivates me to keep going when I want to stop and give up on that treadmill! FTU’s latest offering has a couple songs that do that for me.

You have great tracks like the personal song “Screaming in Silence” which is a testimony of Lead Singer Gideon ‘Gidz’ Karsten’s past struggles with thoughts of suicide. If you get a chance to check out the video (below) it is truly inspirational and hits home about the problem many face each day. “Seven” is truly the star of this album. The song really kicks the album into 5th gear and delivers a first class hit! There are also the Low points, for me (Headbanging-wise) Grace Covered Skin doesn’t belong on this album. It is a beautiful, praise-worship type of song, with beautiful lyrics. It also has the feel of being in the Highlands of Scotland, and that music is truly beautiful, but again, not for this album. For me, it does not fit. Use the same lyrics and twist in into some heavy riffs and it would be perfect! All in all I believe FTU has created a good album and is well worth picking it up for your collection……..\m/\m/
