John Elefante - On my way to the sunCoverIf you are a Kansas fan then you need to read no further in this review except to heed the words, “YOU MUST PICK THIS UP!”

John gets back to his roots on this album; putting together a masterpiece of a record here. If you combine the elements of your favorite Kansas rockers, Mastedon hits, and John’s own solo stuff, all in to one, you would get ‘On my way to the Sun’. This release showcases John and all of his talents and styles into one glorious CD and often times seems to transport the listener back to 1970.

The opening track ‘This is how the story goes’ features former alum from John’s Kansas days and is an 11-minute Progressive rock masterpiece, with tons of melodies and harmonies throughout! Strong tracks for me were ‘The Awakening’ with its true 70’s vibe and the title track ‘On my way to the Sun’ with some very moving lyrics that have proven somewhat prophetic to me… “Forty something years I thought I had it all figured out” or “Then if I’m alright but everything’s wrong, then why can’t I find my way home?” I know John is probably speaking of himself in many of his stories, but pieces have been so moving to me and even inspirational.

‘We all fall short’ is an acoustic based ballad that tells us just that, “We all fall short of the Glory of God” and this showcases John in all of his acoustic glory. There is not a single bad track on the whole album. It has been getting solid rotation in my player this week and will for weeks to come!

70’s rock fans, Christian Rock fans this is the album you need to pick up in 2013. We give it our top rating. Pick it up and start enjoying it today and be ready to be fed in the process!
